The Navajo artist Tony Abeyta normally creates colourful paintings to explore his heritage. Underworldness at Heard Museum, however, is a collection of Abeyta's large-format black-and-white paintings that explore themes of creation through primal representations of botanical and animal forms.

The exhibit also includes a wall mural created on-site and videos of the artistic process created by Abeyta's 17-year-old son, Gabriel.
